Skiing grounds in the area of Leskowiec Mountain and Groń Jana Pawła II [The Peak of John Paul II]:
Leskowiec is the most interesting summit for the skiers, not only in Beskid Mały [The Small Beskid Mountains”] but in the whole Beskidy Mountains. It gained a huge popularity as early as in 1930s or even 1920s. In 1953 one of the first ski tows was installed here. Two ski runs going down from Groń Jana Pawła II [The Peak of John Paul II] (one leading to Rzyki Jagódki village, the second to Ponikiew village), as well as ski grounds running along the ski lifts near the mountain shelter, make the area very attractive in winter. Ski season lasts here from the middle of December until the end of March, yet on lower parts of ski runs snow melting may occur earlier. Ski grounds near the mountain shelter:
On the north slope of Groń Jana Pawła II [The Peak of John Paul II] there is a 510m long ski run having the difference in levels of 170 m. The run is difficult and recommended for experienced skiers. The glade next to the shelter is used as a ski training ground.
Ski runs:
from „na Leskowcu” shelter [„shelter on Leskowiec Mountain”] to Rzyki – Jagódki - 4,2 km, difference in levels 510 m. Marked as black ski run (difficult). Below the summit of Groń Jana Pawła II [The Peak of John Paul II], the run becomes easier. Last 700 m to the bus stop - flat
from „na Leskowcu” shelter [„shelter on Leskowiec Mountain”] to Ponikiew village (PKS Ponikiew II [Polish Coach Service Terminal II] ) - 5,2 km, difference in levels 520 m. Marked as blue ski run (easy), in final part becomes a bit more difficult
