ARCHITECTURAL MONUMENTS:
Church dedicated to St. Matthias the Apostle, from 1646
Reconstructed and extended several times in subsequent centuries (among others in 1725 two chapels were constructed). Made of brick, three-aisled, chancel facing east [according to old Christian tradition the high altar was to be turned towards the Christ’s grave in Jerusalem], with a tower from the west. The most interesting church furnishings: a baroque baptismal font of the 18th century, „God's Mother the Queen of the Holy Rosary” painting of 1725 (painted on the order of Salomea Czerna, the then owner of the town), „The Holy Family” painting by Piotr Stachiewicz of 1886.
The Bobrowskis’ Palace
is commonly called as „the castle”. The original building, erected in this place in the first half of the 17th century, was fortified. It was reconstructed and extended several times. The palace received its present classical appearance in the first half of the 19th century. Classical, in shape of a horseshoe, bricked, one-storey. It consists of the main wing and two side ones, positioned at right angles. In the middle of the main wing, from the side of the inn, there is a four-column portico. Formerly, it was surrounded with an English-style park. Presently, in the western wing of the palace, The Andrychów Lovers’ Association is seated.
Jewish Cemetery
Located in the western part of the town. Until today about 400 gravestones from the 19th century have survived.
Regional Chamber of Andrychów Region.
Run by The Andrychów Lovers’ Association, the Chamber houses expositions of different crafts: traditional Andrychów weaving craft, pottery, smithery and shoemaking; there are also exhibits documenting the history of the town and farming craft, etc. There are temporary exhibitions held here too, and there is a library.
The Parish Church of Blessed Virgin Mary in Inwałd village
Erected between 1747 and 1750 by Franciszek Szwarcenberg Czerny, the then lord of the village, in the late baroque style; the church’s vault was painted by Karol Polityński in 1928 (restored in 1983) depicts: the crowning of Mother of God (in the nave), Assumption of the Mother of God (in the chancel), death of Joseph in the presence of Jesus and Mother of God (in the chancel screen). In the baroque altar there is a painting of Inwałd Mother of God with Child, which is famous for its graces. It comes from Scandinavia. According to the church’s tradition, it was donated at the beginning of the 17th century by highland robbers prowling the neighbourhood. Before Partitions of Poland, in the 18th century it was one of places of pilgrimage and surrounded by cult.
Chapel in Zagórnik of the 19th century.
The main patron of Zagórnik village is St. Bartholomew. The parish also worships St. Lucas, in lasting memory of two founders of the chapel, who were named after the Saint. In 1811, thanks to donations of Łukasz Polak and Łukasz Pudło, the bricked chapel with a wooden belfry was erected. In 1884 the chapel was substantially extended and received an attractive turret on the front facade. In 1885, a painting of Mother of God the Queen of Heaven and Earth, sketched by famous Polish painter Jan Matejko, was placed in the high altar. In the same year, the bishop of Tarnów granted the permission to hearing the confessions in Zagórnk village, whereas in 1868 Pope Pius IX approved the church fair in honour of St. Bartholomew, the Apostle. The present wooden high altar was constructed in 1895, in the style similar to baroque, by J. Ziarnowski from Zębrzyce village and F. Magiera from Inwałd village. In 1993 the painting of Mother of God the Queen of Heaven and Earth was moved to a new church of St. Bartholomew, the Apostle and St. Lucas the Evangelist, erected in the vicinity of the chapel.
Church dedicated to St. Jacob the Elder in Rzyki village
Bricked, erected in 1793-96 under patronage of the lady of Zator lands, the duchess Apolonia Poniatowska; tower at the front facade was added in 1835, whereas its top storey with helmet – in 1923; polychrome completed in 1885 by Józef Paszyński from Tarnów, was then restored in 1958. In baroque-rococo high altar from before 1837, there is a painting of Mother of God of Consolation – valuable statue of Mother of God from the 15th century. The second, a late-Gothic one dates back to the 16th century. In the naves and the sacristy there are sculptures and low reliefs of a folk artist, Stanisław Mikołaj.
Public Cemetery in Andrychów
Founded in 1857; in the central place there is a tomb of the Kośvitzky family, the entrepreneurs of the 19th century, which functions today as a cemetery chapel. At the side wall there is a commemorative plaque devoted to the Polish Army Officers from Andrychów region, murdered in Katyń, Kcharkow, and Starobielsk, as well as the Herzog family.
The Pillar Shrine in Andrychów
Erected in 1887 as a votive offering of the Babiński family for graces experienced them.
The Crypts in the Church of St. Matthias in Andrychów
Dates back to the 18th century. The younger one is bricked (the crypt of St. Adalbert) and the older – made of stone (the crypt of the Holy Family), with well-preserved stalactite dripstones.
Tadeusz Kościuszko Well
In 1894, on the centenary of Kościuszko Insurrection, by the order of Felicja Bobrowska, the existing water source was lined with bricks.
